You’d be surprised to know how many people pop iron supplements in the belief that its good for them. Doctors sometimes prescribe it for no very good reason. Little consideration has been given to the dangers of excess iron
Iron in our food and in our bodies is a secret killer and may be among the greatest causes of ill health in 21st century
Hardly anyone knows what their iron levels are, there are no symptoms from excess iron alone; the only symptoms are from the disease, such as cancer or a heart attack, that iron causes the fact that excess iron causes disease, aging, and cognitive decline is known to very few, including most doctors.
The tragedy of iron toxicity is compounded by unnecessary ingestion of highly absorbable iron supplements by an unwary public, for a disease that most people do not have (iron deficiency), and without their knowledge
Since there's next to no money to be made from dealing with excess iron, pharma companies are unlikely to pursue this line of research, and for the same reason most people are unlikely to hear about it
No matter how much you exercise, watch what you eat, and so on, if you don't prevent your iron from becoming too high, you're missing a major element of health that could make all thedifference.
Excess iron accumulates in the blood as one ages leading to cellular and biological inflammation and ultimately the diseases of aging (heart disease, cancer, and cognitive decline), is impossible to dispute.
Here’s a thread I made on Iron toxicity recently
Your body needs the right amount of iron. If you have too little iron, you may develop iron deficiency anemia. Too much iron can damage your body.
It is like a double-edged sword of the nutrient world which is so beneficial for us but when present in its Free state, it becomes TOXIC
Ferritin is a stored form of Iron If the Iron levels are low, you can't really assess if the person has low iron levels in the body and that's why you should also check your FERRITIN reserve You should absolutely not take IRON supplements unless your FERRITIN is also low
If the Iron stores are high
❌ Stop taking multivitamins with Iron
❌ Stop using an iron casket
❌ Stop excessive drinking
✅ Donate Blood
Blood donation is the single fastest way of getting rid of excess Iron.
Why you need less Iron than what is normally recommended?
The normal range and the optimal range of iron are not the same
Many people – about 15% of adults – take them on their own because they believe it's a healthy thing to do.
If your doctor orders a ferritin test – or you get him or her to order it for you – the result will be accompanied by a so-called “normal range”, also called a reference range or normal laboratory values. The normal range is calculated such that 95% of apparently healthy people have a value within that range.
Ferritin (iron) values above the level of 80 to 100 are associated with disease. Healthy individuals and populations have ferritin values below this level.
Studies have demonstrated only minimal levels are necessary for fertility which are very easy to attain in modern world
A diet low in iron and with added iron blockers like tea and red wine is effective at lowering ferritin, and lowers the death rate in people with kidney disease
The information and scientific studies supporting the claim that excess iron damages health are out there, but you need to look for them. It's hardly discussed at all in mainstream health writing. Most likely, even your doctor doesn't know or care. He or she will be prescribing you a statin or putting you on other potentially damaging, expensive drugs, and all the while a high iron level could be the real problem, and slowly killing you
Maybe I’ll go further into details in the future email
